Service and Repair Technician Permanent

• Hours: Monday – Thursday – 8.15am – 5.00pm Friday 8.15am -12:45pm
• Driver with access to own transport essential due to rural workplace location

Our client based near Pulborough are seeking a Service and Repair Technician (internal & field service) to join their team on a full-time basis.

Responsibilities:

• The testing, fault finding and repair of high voltage power supplies. Testing and fault finding needs to be to root cause at component level both SMT and PTH working on digital and analogue circuits for high and low voltage power. Investigation will often require digging out of potted areas.
• The upgrade and modification of high voltage power supplies to IPC class II standard.
• Completion of detailed test and analysis reports (ideally using 5 why or similar format) on the Company’s quality management system and updating of system status.
• Estimate repair cost and times and endeavour to ensure they are achieved.
• As required provide customer feedback on returns analysis and improvement plans working with QA Dept. to ensure corrective actions are implemented to prevent reoccurrence. May involve face to face interactions with customer to provide technical support.
• Conduct on-site installation and commissioning of Power Feed Equipment (PFE) systems to established set up and test procedures.
• Train customer personnel in correct and safe operation of PFE systems both at the factory and at customer’s premises.
• Ensuring familiarisation and adherence to the Company’s ISO 9001 Quality, ISO14001 Environmental and ISO45001 Health and Safety management systems including workmanship standards.

A candidate will ideally have the following skills/ experience/ qualifications

• Educated ideally to degree level or HNC/ HND with relevant experience.
• IPC-J-STD trained
• 5+ years Testing /Troubleshooting electronic assemblies to component level (Not electromechanical)
• Some knowledge of power supply design must be able to work from and fault find using schematics and wiring diagrams.
• An understanding and experience of the issues involved with world travel such as visas, shipment of test equipment, transportation of tool kits etc.
• Knowledge of up-to-date components and technology.
• Familiar with the use of test equipment / systems and relevant test procedures / specifications
• Familiar with workmanship standards and repair techniques.
